I saw As Tall As Lions last night at Bottom of the Hill... and they KILLED it. HOWEVER they did not play my favorite song... so I will give it my own shout out. I asked Sergio from the band why they didn't play it, and he actually apologized to me, and told me they would play it when they are back in SF, and they would dedicate it to me :) Holler.

Sex And The City's King Confirms Sequel Deal
6 February 2009 8:05 AM, PST | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news
Sex And The City writer/director Michael Patrick King has delighted millions of fans worldwide by confirming a movie sequel to the 2008 hit is in the works. Reports surfaced earlier this week claiming the four leading ladies - Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis - had officially signed on to make a follow up to the big-screen adaptation last year following months of speculation.
And now King has expressed his delight at reteaming with the stars once again - but he's refusing to reveal any ideas he has for the new movie script.
He says, "I'm very excited to work with these amazing actresses again and would love to give everyone more information about the sequel... but I'm busy with my Sex life."

I actually watched this last night... and it made me feel really uneasy. It's just so sad to see such a talented person go absolutely nuts. Either that, or he is a master of trickery! He has been rumored to have Casey Affleck and a camera crew following him around since he "retired" from acting, and started a "rapping" carreer.
I'm banking on Barbiturates.
That Letterman experience reminded me of my favortie one... another classic, courtesy of a young Drew Barrymore:

Evan B. Harris & Amy Ruppel

The Mark Wollery Gallery in Portland is currently showing collections from Trish Grantham, Evan Harris & Amy Ruppel. But it is also showing a collection of collaborations by Evan Harris and Amy Ruppel. I absolutely adore Ruppel, and these pieces are enchanting. Now all I need is around $900, or just a really nice laser printer...
Evan B. Harris & Amy Ruppel collaborated on these subtle encaustic works, with Ruppel rendering naturalistic animal portraits and Harris bedecking them with elegant incised patterning.
Both accomplished artists in their own right, Harris & Ruppel have shared a friendship and Portland studio space for years; this show represents their first time making work together.

February 21, 2009
12:00pm - 5:00pm
GRILLING STARTS AT 1:00PM SHARP
San Francisco, CA
(EXACT LOCATION TO BE ANNOUNCED WEEK OF THE EVENT)
Registration for the 2nd Annual NorCal Regional Grilled Cheese Invitational is now open!
Anyone is welcome to attend this event and you do not have to compete in order to sample a sammich.
DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A GRILLED CHEESE CHAMPION?
CAN YOU GRILL LIKE A BUTTERFLY AND STING LIKE A BEE?
DO YOU HAVE THE GUTS?
The 2nd Annual NorCal Regional Grilled Cheese Invitational will be the best thing to happen to San Francisco ever!
Attendees are handed sammiches and rate them accordingly. We then tabulate the results, dispense trophies and wrap ourselves up in the cheese glory!
Awards are determined by audience vote for each sammich.
For the winners, there will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophy awarded in each category. There will also be two Spaz awards that will be given to different sammiches that are the biggest Spazes and mountains of grilled cheese for everybody!
For the NorCal regional competition, the organizers of the GCI have selected three categories of competition, definitions are as follows:
The Missionary Position: Standard bread, standard butter and standard cheese. No additional ingredients or flavorings allowed.
The Kama Sutra: Any kind of bread, any kind of butter, and any kind of cheese (or blend of cheeses) plus additional ingredients.
The Honey Pot: Any kind of bread, any kind of butter, any kind of cheese (or blend of cheeses), and any additional ingredients, but a sandwich that is sweet in flavor, or would best be served as dessert.
On February 21st, we will part the mighty mountain of fresh-baked loaves, wade knee-deep in the melted cheese and swim eye-high in the butterfat, but only a few, only the proud, the cheesiest, will earn the sacred right to hold a glimmering, golden trophy aloft for all to see and scream to the malignant heavens above: "I am a f@#king grilled cheese champion™!"

Raising Sand

If you are wondering why this pair swooped the Grammy's, wonder no longer. The first track, Rich Woman, is by far my favorite, but you be your own judge... The review below is one I completely agree with. This album makes me want to kick back in a squeaky rocking chair on a dingy porch in the country, with a glass of whiskey in one hand and a cigarette in the other.
Raising Sand
Robert Plant & Alison Krauss
By Dave White
The Rock Music Cross-genre collaborations are often more about marketing than music. Sometimes they are designed to jump-start an older artist's sagging career or to give a young artist exposure by being paired with an established one.
With no sagging careers and the artists firmly established, the collaboration between Robert Plant, Alison Krauss and producer T Bone Burnett is all about the music. Raising Sand is less a joining of genres than it is the coming together of musical talent that isn't limited by any one style of music.
The Players
Much has been made of the seeming incongruity of the Plant-Krauss pairing, but it's time to just get over it.
Krauss is an avowed classic rock fan, being particularly fond of a little band called Led Zeppelin, for whom Plant wrote and performed music that had extensive blues, folk and Celtic influences. If you had played a game of Six Degrees of Alison Krauss before this collaboration ever came about, it wouldn't have taken more than a degree or two to connect these artists.
And then there's T Bone Burnett. Songwriter, musician (he toured with Bob Dylan back in the day and plays guitar on most of this album's tracks) and, most famously, producer of albums and movie soundtracks (he somehow managed to coach Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon to sound like Johnny and June Carter Cash in Walk The Line.) He has a gift for blending vocal and instrumental elements, and coaxing just the right interpretation of lyrics.
The Sound
Photo by Pamela Springsteen, courtesy Rounder RecordsGiven the track records of all involved, there was never any doubt that the result of this collaboration would be good. But the imagination can only go so far in predicting what two of the most distinctive and recognizable voices imaginable would sound like together.
One of my biggest questions is answered in the opening track, "Rich Woman." Plant sings lead, but tempered with Krauss' harmony, neither voice dominates. To the contrary, the blend is so natural, you'd think they had been singing together for years.
Again on the closing track, "Your Long Journey," this time with Krauss leading and Plant harmonizing, the resulting blend is the stuff of which goosebumps are made.
Krauss leads on "Through The Morning, Through The Night" which is the one track that is most like what you might expect to hear on one of her albums.
Several of the arrangements have a slightly mysterious, almost haunting sound that is characteristic of many of Burnett's own recordings. This works well on "Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us" and "Polly Come Home."
No Boundaries
The various musical influences that both artists bring to the party are evident throughout. "Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On)" -- written by The Everly Brothers -- is somewhere between bebop and The Byrds. Hard rock meets the blues on Townes Van Zandt's "Nothin'".
Plant, Krauss and Burnett are masters of their craft, which is that of creating memorable music. This is, hands down, the best collaboration that has come about in a very long time -- maybe since The Traveling Wilburys. If Raising Sand doesn't result in more than one GRAMMY, I'll be very surprised.
Now Listen:

Chris Brown= EPIC FAIL
Chris Brown Investigated For Assault
Chris Brown is being investigated by the LAPD for an alleged assault on a female.
“The identity of the victim will not be released,” Officer April Harding tells People. “Any victim who’s involved in a domestic violence incident is entitled to confidentiality.”
Around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, Chris and an unnamed woman were arguing inside of a vehicle when suddenly things turned violent. According to TMZ, the woman suffered visible injuries and identified Chris as her attacker.
The LAPD say they received a 911 call reporting the disturbance. “If police locate Brown, yes, he’s subject to arrest,” Officer Harding added.
Earlier Saturday night, Chris and girlfriend Rihanna were at the Clive Davis pre-Grammy Gala in Beverly Hills. Rihanna’s rep says, “Rihanna is well. Thank you for concern and support.”
On Sunday afternoon, one JJ reader had this report about the disturbance.
Both Chris and Rihanna were supposed to hit the red carpet and perform at the Grammys. Both will not be in attendance tonight. A Grammy rep says Rihanna’s face is slightly bruised and adds, “We have just been informed that Rihanna will not be attending tonight’s 51st Annual Grammy Awards. We’re sorry she is unable to join us this evening.”
UPDATE: Chris Brown has turned himself into the cops.
